Competition record
DocuSign
Deep profile · 0 linked library matters
DocuSign stores the templates, workflows, and signed envelopes that companies treat as the system of record for agreements. Adobe Acrobat Sign is the alternative already bundled into many Acrobat subscriptions.
Overview
DocuSign is based in San Francisco. Its e-signature product sends envelopes for signature and keeps the audit trail, and its contract-lifecycle tools draft and track agreements beyond the signature itself.
Adobe Acrobat Sign rides along with Acrobat and Creative Cloud seats that legal and sales teams already have. Dropbox Sign and lighter signing features inside Microsoft and Box cover simpler cases, but a company with thousands of DocuSign templates and API integrations does not move them in a quarter.
The archive of executed contracts is the sticky asset. A general counsel who has standardized on DocuSign for sales agreements, vendor contracts, and HR letters has built a retrieval habit and a compliance file that a cheaper per-envelope price does not replace.
Competition footprint
Templates, branding, and API integrations are customer-specific and must be rebuilt on another signer.
The executed-envelope archive is a record-retention store, not just a sending tool.
Adobe's bundle of sign-in with Acrobat is the main reason a renewal becomes a real contest.
Consumer & business angle
Sales representatives live in the DocuSign send button inside Salesforce and notice any change in that workflow.
Counterparties who only sign do not choose the vendor, but they depend on the link still opening.
What to watch
- Seat and envelope pricing where Adobe bundles signing into Acrobat renewals.
- Attach rates for contract-lifecycle modules on top of the core signature tenant.
