Competition record
DuPont
Deep profile · 1 linked library matter
DuPont is the historic chemicals company that combined with Dow in 2017. The EU cleared the merger with conditions, and the group later split into Dow, DuPont, and Corteva.
Overview
DuPont spent a century as a science company in chemicals, fibers, and, later, seeds and crop protection. Farmers knew it for agricultural products. Factories knew it for materials. That mix is why a merger with Dow raised overlaps in sprays and in industrial chemicals at the same time.
The 2017 combination needed a conditional clearance from the European Commission. The library status is remedy. Crop-protection assets were part of what the clearance required the parties to separate from the merged business. The library's remedy file also names FMC, a crop-protection company, in that discussion.
After the combination, the group split at a high level into Dow, DuPont, and Corteva. Agriculture went toward Corteva. The DuPont name continued on specialty products. This profile is that merger path. It does not describe a later, separate prosecution.
Competition footprint
Herbicide and insecticide overlaps were the farm-facing reason for conditions.
The three-way split was the companies' own later structure, after the clearance.
Remedy status means the deal closed under conditions, which is the outcome this library records.
Consumer & business angle
Farmers were the customers of the seed and crop-protection overlap.
Industrial buyers were the customers of the materials that stayed with Dow or with the remaining DuPont.
