Competition record
Rouse Services
Deep profile · 1 linked library matter
Rouse Services publishes benchmarks of equipment-rental rates. On 28 September 2026 a Chicago court let price and information-exchange claims proceed, while claims against parent RB Global were dismissed.
Overview
Rouse collects rental rates for heavy equipment and publishes bands that rental companies use to see where their prices sit. Plaintiffs allege the firm took nightly uploads of prices that were not public.
They also say customers priced inside those bands about 90 percent of the time. On 28 September 2026 the Chicago court let the price and information-exchange claims proceed.
That order is not a verdict. The same day the court dismissed parent RB Global because ownership alone did not state a claim, and Rouse remains a defendant.
Competition footprint
Nightly uploads of nonpublic prices are the alleged exchange, as distinct from a benchmark built only on public rate cards.
The 90 percent figure is the plaintiffs' allegation about how often customers priced inside the bands, not a finding.
Rouse stays in the case after 28 September 2026, and RB Global does not.
Consumer & business angle
Equipment-rental companies are both the sources of the uploaded prices and the customers who see the bands.
Contractors renting the machines pay the rate the rental company posts, which the plaintiffs say tracked the benchmark.
What to watch
- Whether the information-exchange claims survive summary judgment.
- How the court treats the alleged nightly uploads of nonpublic prices.
